Installer fined Rs 160,550 for faulty CNG kit
LAHORE: The Lahore Consumer Court (LCC) has fined a CNG kit installer Rs 160,550 for installing a faulty kit in a vehicle. On the petition of Imran Saeed, a resident of Shahdara, LCC judge Syed Maruf Ahmedali ordered Salim Qadir Khan, the CNG kit installer, to pay the complainant the fine in 10 days. Saeed said in his petition that he had paid Qadir Rs 58,000 to install an Italian CNG kit in his jeep on June 4. He said the CNG kit had a warranty of one year. He said the kit was not Italian and did not have the capacity that the respondent had assured him. He said the substandard kit had damaged several parts of his jeep and that he had to spend another Rs 52,550 to fix his vehicle. The judge ruled that the respondent was liable to pay for the damage his substandard kit had caused to the petitioner’s vehicle. He also ruled that the respondent had given a misleading representation of his CNG kit in the brochure. staff report
